That's How You Brush Your Teeth!

Another impromptu imagination and creation from the 5.5 year-old which caught me speechless!

First, he made a brush by rolling up a piece of art block. Then he cut the top portion for it to look like a brush.

Then came the teeth in the mouth.

And not forgetting the toothpaste!

Monkey Puzzle

"Hush Hush Little Monkey don't you cry, I will help you to find your mummy."

A fun book for toddler illustrating a baby monkey has got lost in the jungle and in desperate mood to find his mummy. He met this funny butterfly who always got the idea wrong and brought him to the wrong animals.

You see, butterfly's baby is a caterpillar. Its baby does not look like her at all! She doesnt know little monkey looks like his mummy!

The wordings are put in rhythm and a good book to teach kids to describe an animal.

Art Gallery of A 5-Year Old

Below pictures were drawn impromptu without any reference by a 5-year old. You will be able to see what he likes and how he experiences his life. I am happy to learn that he is happy as you can see from the various colour he puts in his pictures and the smiling suns he has drawn. And I trust the family has played an important role in his life as a few of his pictures show houses and family members.

A family portrait was drawn when he was 4.5 years old. See his progress after half a year later in the next picture.

this was drawn when he is 5 years old.

Something Else

This is a book with huge graphics and reasonably wordings. Suitable for children above two years of age and can last till they reach seven years old. I bought this book online and cost me about RM35.

Author of the book:Kathryn Cave
Publisher of the book:The Penguin Group
ISBN: 0140549072
Soft cover. Winner of the UNESCO Prize.

Why my boys and I like this book so much?

Firstly, the title is easy to remember for toddlers. Secondly, the pictures drawn are very alive, interesting and funny. Thirdly, the story is very educating and touching. Last but not least, my boys love the book.

It talks about an ugly creature, yes a creature which doesn't look like anything, a creature which is being seen as an alien by all the animals around him, a creature who stays up the hill ALONE with NO FRIENDS. His name is SOMETHING ELSE (yes, title of the book). He does not get the liking from other animals although he has tried hard to be one of them. Then, come another creature which looks a bit like elephant called SOMETHING.

The most educating part of the story is when Something trying to make friend with Something Else. Something Else rejects Something as he feels that Something looks weird and is different from him. Nevertheless, he finally comes to realise that he is one special creature too and he accepts Something being special. And the best part is a boy knocks on their door one day and being human the boy is an absolute alien to Something and Something Else! However, the two friends accept the boy without any question.

This book can educate your kids to be acceptable to their friends for who they are. Kids can be taught to appreciate each human being is special and they should not look down on their peer who may be abnormal or not as clever or handsome as them.
